Ipswich set to make second attempt to add 26-year-old forward to squad

Ipswich Town will rekindle their interest in Barnsley forward Marley Watkins this summer, according to the Sun on Sunday (Print edition, Sunday 16th April 2017).

The 26-year-old is due to be out of contract this summer, and it now appears that Ipswich are set to follow up on their January interest with a move for the former Inverness man this summer.

However, Ipswich could face competition from both Cardiff City and Bristol City, with all three Championship clubs keen on adding the versatile forward to their squads this summer.

Watkins has bagged nine goals this season for Barnsley as the club have cemented their status in the Championship under manager Paul Heckingbottom.

The Reds and their manager will no doubt be keen to hang onto one of their better players, but with Watkins seemingly unwilling to sign new terms at Oakwell and so many clubs interested, a move looks inevitable.

Barnsley fans, what do you make of this again? Ipswich fans, is Watkins a good signing? Let us know your thoughts!
