Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has told BBC Radio Suffolk that the club have no chance of making Tom Lawrence's loan move into a permanent one, reports BBC Sport.

Tom Lawrence is currently on a season long loan at Ipswich Town from reigning Premier League champions Leicester City and he is enjoying his best campaign to date.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a winger or as a striker, has been the standout performer in an underwhelming season for the Tractor Boys.

With 11 goals and 9 assists in all competitions this year, Tom Lawrence has caught the eye of potential suitors and Mick McCarthy believes that he deserves a shot in the Premier League.

Since joining Leicester in 2014 from Manchester United, the Wales international star has only managed 3 league appearances for the Foxes and has been sent out on loan to Rotherham, Blackburn, Cardiff and Ipswich.

Mick McCarthy told BBC Radio Suffolk:

"I think Tom will have his heart set on the Premier League and I think he'll get that.

"If Leicester are going to sell him, there'd be a lot of takers.

"Tom has been brilliant and we've all loved him, everybody's really appreciated what he's done, but I think he has his heart set on Premier League football and why wouldn't he?"
