Ipswich Town started a new era today with Paul Hurst taking to the training ground as he gets to work in earnest as the club's new manager.

The start of pre-season is always an exciting time up and down the country and Tractor Boys fans will be feeling that more than they have in recent years.

Plenty had become disillusioned by the club's performances under Mick McCarthy and so now they have a fresh face in charge, they'll be looking for a push for the top six.

It would seem as though the Tractor Boys are close to a new signing, too, with the official Twitter account revealing that Paul Hurst has said Trevor Chalobah should arrive on loan from Chelsea:

The Tractor Boys are evidently looking to add a bit of youth and exuberance to their defence with this signing.

Chelsea, meanwhile, get to see how one of their many youngsters perform in a senior environment and so this is an intriguing move for all.

The Verdict

Ipswich will be interesting to watch this season.

Hurst will want to show he is the real deal after a good season at Shrewsbury and if he can put together a top six surge he'll definitely have the fans onside.
