The Tractor Boys are looking for a replacement for Aaron Cresswell, who left to join West Ham United on Thursday night.

Former Crystal Palace defender Jonathan Parr is also linked with a move to Portman Road.

Dummett broke into the Newcastle first-team last season but the Premier League club have tied the 22-year-old down to a long-term contract and may be reluctant to allow a loan move.

Ferguson on the other hand, has reached a crossroads in his career after a disappointing loan spell at Birmingham City last season and the Magpies may be willing to offload the 22-year-old.

The Northern Ireland international has two years left on his contract at St James’ Park but could be available for around £1 million.

He ended last season on the sidelines at Birmingham and played no part in the Blues’ fight against the drop.

Ferguson had played 23 times for Newcastle after signing a professional deal with the club in 2009 and has 16 caps for Northern Ireland, scoring once.
