Ipswich Town are among a number of Championship clubs in the hunt for the signature of former Birmingham City winger David Cotterill, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.
Cotterill made eight appearances for the West Midlands club in all competitions this season before being released and Mick McCarthy has an interest in signing the 30 year old for nothing in the January window.
The Welshman has 270 Championship appearances to his name from throughout his career, with Birmingham, Bristol City, Doncaster Rovers, Portsmouth, Swansea City and Sheffield United.
I know Mick McCarthy has a penchant for buying experienced players and getting something out of them and has made a career from doing it.
However, I watched Cotterill play on various occasions for Birmingham and he never impressed me to the extent that I think he could add anything to Ipswich right now.
His delivery and work rate from wide areas is poor and they are two things that the former Wolves boss insists on from his widemen.
