Ipswich Town's wretched start to the season continues with the Tractor Boys routed to the bottom of the Championship, with only nine points to show from a potential 39 and only one win to their names this season.

Club legend Matt Holland spoke on TalkSport Radio recently about the situation at his former club, and confirmed that he had heard that owner Marcus Evans is already sounding out replacements for beleaguered boss Paul Hurst.

So who should get the job if Hurst is sacked by Ipswich?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

Paul Lambert could be a potential option for Ipswich to consider.

He has been out of work since struggling at Stoke City and he could be keen to reignite his managerial career by proving himself at Ipswich, who are likely to be in a relegation fight this season.

Alfie Burns

The way things are going, they’re going to need someone to do a rescue job.

Steve Bruce is available and I think he will be back in a job before Christmas.

He’s someone that Ipswich should be considering if Hurst is axed.

Gary Hutchinson

No!

Absolutely not. A new manager will only take them down anyway, for the sake of League One and Two managers everywhere, Hurst must be given time.

Going into Portman Road was always going to be a big job.

Ipswich fans won’t like this, but Mick McCarthy had worked wonders there year on year to keep them afloat.

They need a Sunderland-style wake-up call I feel.

Jay Taylor

Ironically, the Ipswich situation looks like one that would be ideal for a manager like Mick McCarthy.

It is hard to pick a manager who would be suitable as there are not that many quality managers around.

Add in that budget and with Ipswich’s finances - will they get a better manager should they sack Paul Hurst?

That remains to be seen, but the young manager from the league below has not worked for the Tractor Boys.

So they could turn to someone like Tim Sherwood to try and get them out the mire.

He has more experience and seems to be a little more vocal than what we have seen from Hurst.
