Once again, Brentford are facing a battle to keep hold of one of their key players as the transfer window hots up.

We've seen several influential individuals leave the club over the years and the next one to be sold for a hefty fee could be striker Neal Maupay.

Sky Sports reported that it would take an offer in excess of £20m for the Bees to consider selling the 15-goal striker, with Aston Villa and Middlesbrough interested in the player.

Whilst some thought that was a ridiculous fee for a Championship player, as our graphic shows, it probably is a fair price for the Frenchman given the form he is in.

Firstly, you have to look at the way the market is now and the riches of the Premier League means top-flight clubs, and those wanting to get there, have to be prepared to spend big.

And, when you look at top Championship players like James Maddison going for around £22m and strikers like Britt Assombalonga costing £15m, then Brentford are right to stand firm.

Maupay's goal return is superb this season and he's also weighed in with six assists, meaning he is the most productive player in the league.

Additionally, his shots and key passes per game show this is not a player getting lucky on a good run, he is in fact making decisive contributions all the time.

Then, you factor in his age and at 22, any buying club will be signing a striker that has their best years to come.

Whether it's this month or in the summer, it seems inevitable that Maupay will leave Griffin Park, but the Londoners need to make sure they get value on the talented striker.
