It's set to be a big year for Fulham, as they look to bounce back from their dismal relegation after just a single campaign in the Premier League last season, with the club now looking for an immediate return to the top flight.

The Cottagers are already making moves to strengthen their squad ahead of that expected promotion push, bringing in a number of fresh attacking options in the summer transfer window.

One of those to make the move to Craven Cottage is Ivan Cavaleiro, with the winger joining on a season-long loan from Premier League Wolves.

Cavaliero already has experience winning promotion from this division, having previously helped the Molineux club in their charge to the Championship title in the 2017/18 season.

But will he be able to do enough to help take Fulham back to the top flight this season?

Here, we've put the spotlight on Cavaleiro's performances during that title-winning campaign two years ago in order to get a better idea.

When you look Cavaleiro's stats from that victorious Championship campaign, things look both hugely impressive from the winger, and hugely promising for Fulham.

For starters, nine goals from a wider position on the pitch is no mean feat, and a similar return again from Cavaleiro next season would surely provide a welcome contribution for Fulham, giving the Cottagers confidence that they will not be solely relying on someone such as Aleksandar Mitrovic to fire them back to the top flight.

That seems to suggest that Cavaleiro has the ability to come up with something out of nothing when Fulham are in need of a goal next season, which could see him provide his new side with the type of game-changing moments that turn defeats into draws and draws into wins, earning those extra points that make the difference between winning and losing promotion.

Delving further into the stats, it is perhaps no surprise that Cavaleiro's goals return was as impressive as it was, with over 40% of his shots finding the target, highlighting just how busy opposition goalkeepers will have to be against what looks set to be an incredibly strong Fulham attack next season.

As well as scoring goals himself, it is clear that Cavaleiro will be just as effective in providing them for his teammate.

It has already been suggested that Aleksandar Mitrovic is likely to have a big season leading the line for Fulham, so having someone like Cavaleiro in support of him should offer the Serbian plenty of reassurance heading into the new season.

With 12 assists and a pass success rate of almost 80% the last time he played at this level, Mitrovic should be more than confident that Cavaleiro will be able to provide him with the service he needs to get the goals required to make it a short return to the second tier for Fulham.

Another thing that appears worthy of note when analysing a potential link-up between Cavaleiro and Mitrovic, is the number of crosses the Portuguese winger made during his last season in the Championship.

Mitrovic's ability in the air is well known, and with Cavaleiro averaging over four crosses per game during that title-winning campaign, it looks as though there will be plenty for the Serbian to attack in the penalty area next season, further adding to the problems opposition defences will face when coming up against the Cottagers next season.

Despite all the promise, last season ended up being one to forget for Fulham in just about every way possible.

If Cavaleiro can find the sort of form from his own title-winning campaign at this level however, then the subsequent campaign could become one Fulham fans will want to remember for a very long time.
