According to a reliable football journalist, Rolf Feltscher's brief stint at Cardiff City has come to an end.

Alan Nixon has reported on his Twitter account that Rolf Feltscher has left Cardiff City and is now available as a free agent.

It is believed that the defender will be heading to play in the United States to join a Major League Soccer outfit.

Feltscher only signed for Cardiff City last month, joining on an initial two month contract after spending time on trial with the Bluebirds.

Prior to that, he had been on trial with Birmingham City, where he was hoping to win a contract with Harry Redknapp's team.

The 16-cap Venezuela international, who represented Switzerland at youth level, started his career at Grasshopper in the Swiss league system before joining Italian side Parma.

Since then, he has represented Lausanne Sport, MSV Duisburg, Getafe and Zaragoza before joining Cardiff recently.

However, he never played a single match for the Welsh side and he has now left the club.

The 27-year-old's departure leaves Neil Warnock with the options of Sol Bamba, Bruno Ecuele Manga, Sean Morrison and Matthew Connolly in the centre half department.

The Verdict

Signing Feltscher on a two month contract was a low risk ploy for Warnock and things have obviously not worked out.

Cardiff probably do not need him as they continue to push for promotion and he needs to be playing.

This is a sensible move for all parties.
