Leeds United's search for a new manager is continuing with the club still seemingly locked in talks with Marcelo Bielsa about the Argentinian becoming the new boss.

However, doubts have emerged as to whether he will get the job with the Whites now thought to have approached Steve Bruce over the vacant role.

As well as that, the report in the Daily Mail mentioning Leeds' interest in the Villa boss also adds that Claudio Ranieri could be an option with owner Andrea Radrizzani 'known to be a fan' of the former Leicester boss.

The Italian is out of work after a season-long spell with Nantes in the French top-flight and should he return to England it would be his first job in the country since his remarkable time with the Foxes.

Yet, the report clearly states that Ranieri, along with Bruce, are back up options to Bielsa, with the former Marseille manager the preferred candidate for those making the decision.

Leeds have been without a manager since sacking Paul Heckingbottom this time last week.

The Verdict

The fact that Leeds are planning for alternatives to Bielsa after days of talking to him suggests he may not end up as the Whites manager.

And, if that is the case, Ranieri is going to have a good chance of landing the job if he is a favourite of Radrizzani.

Whether he would be a good appointment is debatable but there are risks to any candidate and whoever does get the job needs backing in the market more importantly to turn Leeds into serious contenders.
