Watford are aiming for an immediate return back to the Premier League this season, but their away form has been a major concern this season.

A 0-0 draw at Coventry on the weekend was the seventh time in 14 away trips so far in the league that the Hornets have shared a point apiece with the opposition.

Whilst their points return of 16 from those away games is decent, Watford's issues have been scoring goals, as they've managed just seven from the 14 fixtures.

A tweet from reporter Huw Davies highlighted just how much Xisco Munoz's men have struggled in front of goal, as he explained how several individual players have already outscored Watford.

"Three players (Ivan Toney, Lucas João, Teemu Pukki) have scored more away goals than Watford in the Championship this season, and another two (Kieffer Moore, Scott Sinclair) have scored the same number. Watford are 5th in the table."

Thankfully for the Hornets, they have been much more prolific at Vicarage Road, netting 24 times in 14 games, and they actually have the best home record in the Championship, having collected 32 points.

The verdict

This is a very interesting reveal, and it's quite worrying for Watford to be struggling for goals on the road so much at this stage of the campaign.

Obviously, it can't be levelled at Munoz because he has recently taken over, but it shows that things need to change.

Whether it's a different system or simply showing more ambition, they have the quality to be doing better, and they will need to if they are to win promotion.
