Former Millwall and Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has predicted that Leeds United will likely sign players that are not on the radar of other Premier League clubs this summer.

It was confirmed over the weekend that Leeds have won the Championship and will return to the English top-flight next term after 16 years away.

The arrival of Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa in 2018 has been the catalyst to the Whites ascent up the table and promotion to the top flight.

Bielsa's side play in a very specific system, which is going to make their recruitment this summer very interesting.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino has suggested that the Whites may end up bringing in players that aren't on the radar of their Premier League rivals.

He said: "Watching his recruitment over the next few weeks will be fascinating because he will have a list of players that he thinks will be perfect for his system.

“They may not be big names, or players that other Premier League clubs are tracking.

“I know people at Marseilles who were taken by surprise by the players he wanted to sign when he went there, because they had never heard of some of them.

“But they were all energetic and comfortable taking the ball under pressure — those are the qualities he puts first.”

One man that Leeds will be hoping to sign is defender Ben White, who has impressed on loan from Brighton this term.

He appears to be someone that is on the radar of other top-flight sides, as it has been reported that the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are also keen on him.

Do you know the colour of these 40 EFL clubs’ home shirts?

The Verdict

This is an interesting prediction from Cascarino and you can certainly see where he is coming from.

The system utilised by Biela is a very specific and intense one and it has unique requirements for players. Some of the Whites' recruitment has been very impressive in recent years and with Leeds heading into the Premier League, it is going to be very interesting to see how they spend their money in the summer.

Aston Villa and Norwich City had two very different strategy last summer and you wonder how the Whites will approach it.
