Kamil Grosicki turned down a move to Nottingham Forest to join West Brom, despite the Reds making a better offer for the player.

That's according to Greek reporter Antonis Oikonomidis, who stated on Twitter that the East Midlands outfit made a late play for the 31-year-old and even put forward a bigger offer to Grosicki.

"Tried, but no result. Forest matched WBA's offer for Kamil Grosicki, made a better offer to the player himself, but he chose WBA."

Both clubs are in contention for promotion, with Albion one place and two points above Forest but they are on a seven-game winless streak, with Sabri Lamouchi's men having a lot of momentum.

Grosicki completed a deadline day switch to The Hawthorns for an undisclosed fee and signed an 18-month contract with the Baggies.

He is sure to be involved against Luton today and could even make a start for Slaven Bilic's side as the boss has real problems out wide following Grady Diangana's injury.

Meanwhile, Forest, who signed Adama Diakhaby to strengthen their options out wide, are in action at Birmingham City.

The verdict

This is an interesting claim but it's probably not too much of a surprise as most of the sides in the mix for promotion were looking for similar players to add to their squad.

And, Grosicki is a proven player at this level so he was always going to be someone to enhance a squad in the top six.

Forest won't be pleased to have missed out but they managed to bring in Diakhaby and the fact they let Albert Adomah go last night shows they aren't worried about options out wide.

Now, it's down to Grosicki to focus on West Brom and he will be hoping to make an instant impact this afternoon.
