Bradford City manager Gary Bowyer has signed a new two-year contract, which will keep him at the League One club until the summer of 2021, it has been confirmed on the club website.

The 47-year-old was appointed Bantams boss last month following David Hopkin's resignation, on a deal until the end of the season, but the former Blackburn and Blackpool manager Bowyer has lost four of his five matches since taking charge.

Bradford are bottom of League One, six points from safety with only six games of the campaign remaining.

So is a new deal for Bowyer good news for the Bantams?

We discuss........

Gary Hutchinson

“Interesting move.

“I can’t see an issue with it, he’s a good manager with a decent track record.

“He’s come in at a tough time and not affected change quickly, but the problems there are deep rooted.

“He is a good investment for the future though.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s a smart move by Bradford.

"They looked doomed at the moment and are evidently preparing for life in League Two.

"I think he’s the right man to take them back into League One next season."

Jay Taylor

“I think it is; they need stability.

“And Bowyer will hopefully give them that.

“It has been a bumpy ride since their play-off final defeat to Millwall two seasons ago.

“So hopefully now, the tide is turning, and the Bantams can become a force once again.”
