Sunderland are nicely poised to launch a serious automatic promotion push in the final months of the League One season.
Jack Ross’s side are currently in third place but with two games in hand on Barnsley and Luton Town who occupy the automatic promotion spots.
Their attention would have no doubt been drawn to a significant injury update from the Tykes on Thursday as well when it was revealed that striker Kieffer Moore would miss the rest of the season.
Barnsley Football Club can confirm that following medical advice, Kieffer Moore will be out for the remainder of the season.

Moore only made the move to Oakwell from Ipswich Town in January 2018 but he has made an immediate impact, scoring 22 goals in 51 appearances.
However, after a suffering a concussion against Gillingham at the start of February, he has been advised to sit out the rest of the campaign.
With the League One run in set to be as close as it has ever been, any setback like this could prove crucial.
So, here is how the Sunderland fans reacted to the news…
Yes Moore's injury might be a boost for #safc and their promotion hopes, but it is not nice to be told that you can't play anymore this season.

Kiefer Moore out for the rest of the season. Don't wish the lad to have a serious injury but it's a bonus for us as he has looked quality up front for Barnsley. ???????? #SAFC
