Reading are continuing their efforts to find Paul Clement's successor at the Madejski Stadium ahead of a crucial festive period for the Royals.

The Berkshire based side are currently in the relegation zone and many supporters will be keen to see a new manager appointed in the near future, to steer them away from the bottom three.

One man that the majority of Reading supporters want to see take charge of the club is ex Fulham boss, Slavisa Jokanovic, and there has been a development in their efforts to bring him to the club.

Reliable journalist, Alan Nixon has revealed on Twitter that the Royals have been in contact with the former Fulham man, but they will need to stump up a large amount of money to secure his services.

Reading will surely tempt Jokanovic with an offer to become their manager as it has been well publicised that they have money to spend, having previously offered an £11m package to Luis Castro who has since turned down the opportunity to take charge of the Royals according to the Reading Chronicle.

But it is crucial that a new man is appointed as quickly as possible, so that they can bring in new additions to Reading in the January transfer window.

Many Reading fans will hope that it is Jokanovic that arrives at the club, although Bolton boss, Phil Parkinson has emerged as the frontrunner to take charge of the struggling Royals according to the bookmakers.

The Verdict:

This is promising news for Reading supporters.

It's good to see Nigel Howe targeting Jokanovic as Clement's replacement as he would do an excellent job at firing up an underperforming group of players at the Madejski Stadium.

He's the name that the majority of Reading fans want to see take charge of the club, and Nixon's latest update will be pleasing to see.

Jokanovic is the man to save Reading from relegation this season.
