Marcus Maddison is wanted by a host of MLS clubs following his release from Peterborough United, according to reports from Football Insider.

The 26-year-old recently departed Peterborough after a six-year stay at London Road, and is now on the lookout for a new club heading into the summer.

Maddison scored 62 goals and registered 92 assists in 249 games for Posh - 10 goals and eight assists for the club in 2019/20 - but was surprisingly sent out on loan to Hull City in January.

After scoring one goal in seven games for the Tigers, Hull have recently announced that they won't be extending Maddison's deal at the KCOM Stadium, and he has also been let go by Peterborough.

Now available to sign on a free transfer, Football Insider claim that a host of Major League Soccer sides are interested in signing the creative midfielder.

They claim that Real Salt Lake, Philadelphia Union and Los Angeles FC are interested in luring Maddison over to the other side of the pond this summer, as he looks to find a new club.

Maddison was linked with moves to Derby County, Birmingham City and Charlton Athletic before joining Hull on loan, with the player refusing to join Charlton permanently in January.

The Verdict

This would be quite a surprising move for Maddison.

He is undoubtedly a hugely talented player, but his attitude doesn't seem to be the greatest which probably explains why Posh were keen to get rid of him despite his high amount of goals and assists.

A move to America could be life-changing for him and it would give him a completely different lifestyle, but would it shut the door on a potential return to England in the future?
