Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly rejected a second bid of £1.5 million from Brentford for Barry Bannan, which has drawn an interesting reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club.

Earlier this week it was reported that the Bees had made an initial move for the Owls skipper and it appears the west London club have returned ahead of this afternoon's deadline for domestic deals.

According to journalist Pete O'Rourke, Wednesday have now rejected two bids from the Bees for Bannan – the first worth £1.25 million and the second £1.5 million.

The Scotland international was made club captain by Garry Monk ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and has played every minute for Wednesday in the Championship this season.

Bannan has been a key man for the Owls since he joined from Crystal Palace in 2015, with his creative influence clear to see in recent years – adding 20 Championship assists over the past two seasons.

It appears despite Brentford's efforts, the Scotsman will be staying put at Hillsborough beyond this afternoon's deadline.

Wednesday started the season with a 12-point deduction and you'd imagine the 30-year-old will have a key role to play in helping them try to overcome that and remain in the Championship.

Do Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United have these 10 things in common?

The second bid for Bannan certainly appears to have caught the attention of Owls fans, with many taking to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
