Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Wolves’ Ruben Neves ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Portuguese midfielder on Mauricio Pochettino’s wish list.

Neves has enjoyed a fine first year in English football, helping Wolves to promotion and the Sky Bet Championship title. The midfield maestro has now emerged as one of three Pochettino transfer targets.

According to the Mirror, Spurs are eyeing deals for Gelson Martins, Cedric Soares and Neves.

Wolves paid over £15m to lure Neves to Molineux last summer, with the midfielder more than repaying that transfer fee by pulling the strings in Wolves’ promotion push.

The 21-year-old has featured on 40 occasions for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, scoring six goals and registering one assist, proving to be the driving force behind Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League.

Neves’ impressive performances have attracted interest from Spurs, who have watched the midfielder in action and added him to their summer wish list.

The Portuguese international has helped Wolves to promotion this season, with Nuno’s side wrapping up the Championship title in emphatic fashion last weekend, beating Bolton Wanderers 4-0 at the Macron Stadium.

There are two fixtures of the Championship season remaining, with Wolves looking to finish the season in style and break the 100-point barrier.

The Verdict

Neves’ performances in the Championship this season have been excellent and it is hardly a surprise to learn that he is on Spurs’ radar ahead of the summer.

However, with Wolves heading for the Premier League and already aiming big, it is hard to see them paving the way for Neves to leave this summer, as he is a key part of Nuno’s side.

Of course, money could talk, but Spurs might find themselves facing an uphill battle.
