West Bromwich Albion defender Ahmed Hegazi has posted a positive update on social media as he prepares to return to the club following international duty with Egypt.

The 28-year-old missed the start of the season for West Brom after undergoing ankle surgery in the summer, although he finally made his return to action for Egypt on Monday night.

The centre-back completed the full 90 minutes and helped his country record a clean sheet, as Egypt picked up a 1-0 victory over Botswana in an international friendly.

Following the game, Hegazi posted a few photos of himself in action for his country on his personal

/">Instagram account and added a message, admitting that it felt great to return to action.

In Hegazi's absence, West Brom have made a very promising start to the season under head coach Slaven Bilic and are currently top of the Championship table on goal difference.

The defender will be hoping to make his first appearance of the season for the Baggies when he returns to the Hawthorns following the international break.

Hegazi was an extremely important player for West Brom last season and made 43 appearances in all competitions as the Baggies reached the Championship play-offs.

The Verdict

This is great news for Hegazi. It's been a frustrating few months for the defender and it must have felt very good for him to return to action for Egypt on Monday.

He was an important player for West Brom in the Championship last season and it'll be interesting to see whether Slaven Bilic decides to put him straight back into the team for their next game.

It's a major boost for Albion to have him back fit though and I'm sure he'll be determined to make an impact when he does return to action for the Baggies.
