Matt Phillips could be set for a move away from West Brom as it emerged that he is being targeted by both Cardiff City and Burnley, according to The Mirror.

The winger has been hugely impressive for the Baggies this season and has certainly played his part in their excellent start to this year's campaign.

The Scotsman has five goals and six assists to his name, but has gone somewhat under the radar in a West Brom team that boasts a wide range of attacking talent.

But with Cardiff and Burnley now interested in securing a deal for Phillips, many fans will be fearing that the 27-year-old could depart in favour of a move to the Premier League.

West Brom supporters will be keen to see Phillips stay at the club, as they remain in serious contention for an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation last year.

Phillips could be tempted with a move to Burnley in particular, with the guarantee of first-team football likely to persuade him.

Burnley are looking into replacements for Aaron Lennon who picked up an injury in recent weeks, which is set to see Sean Dyche dip into the transfer market.

West Brom boss Darren Moore will be hoping that Phillips can remain grounded despite the speculation and play a starring role for the Baggies in their FA Cup clash against Wigan this weekend.

The Verdict

It's no surprise to see Phillips attracting interest.

He has played a crucial role for West Brom this season and is one of the main reasons as to why they are challenging for promotion.

If West Brom are to sell him, then they could potentially slip out of the top six without his creativity.
