Swansea City boss Graham Potter has revealed that he is sweating on the fitness of Oli McBurnie ahead of tomorrow evening’s clash with Leeds United at Elland Road.

McBurnie has been Swansea’s leading man this season, impressing after Potter gave the Scot a chance to stake a claim as the focal point of his attack.

In 30 Championship appearances, McBurnie has 13 goals and four assists to his name, whilst a further two goals have come in the FA Cup, with the 22-year-old more than repaying that faith Potter had in him.

For the player, he will be desperate to be in the starting XI at Elland Road tomorrow, with McBurnie surely keen to add to his impressive goal tally, but also because of the opposition he will be against.

The Scottish international was at Leeds as a boy, but never made the grade at Elland Road, like so many of his peers did.

Every time we see McBurnie line-up against the Whites he looks more motivated than ever and you’d imagine he’d take great joy in dealing Marcelo Bielsa’s side a blow in their promotion push.

Take a look back to August 21 for example, Leeds headed to Swansea having taken maximum points from three games, but McBurnie caused them problems all evening, with the Whites having to work for a 2-2 draw.

McBurnie scored both Swansea’s goals – the first from a powerful run and the second a looping header.

Both goals showed off McBurnie’s skillset, but what was most impressive was his determination.

Without him tomorrow evening, Swansea are weaker, but you can guarantee that the Scot will be doing everything he can to make Potter’s starting XI at Elland Road.
