Football League World's Preston North End fan pundit Tom Coulston-Herrmann has urged the club to reject any potential bids for midfielder Ben Pearson in January.

According to The Sun (3 November, page 61), Burnley are considering a move for the deep-lying playmaker in January.

Sean Dyche is understood to be intent on adding more energy to his midfield when the transfer window opens and Pearson is thought to be one of the players on his radar.

The 24-year-old has been a key player for Preston this season–starting all but one of Alex Neil's side's league games and helping them to climb to second in the table.

The Manchester United academy graduate joined the club in January 2016 and has been a mainstay in the first-team since–making 129 appearances in total.

Coulston-Herrmann was indicated that he felt the club need to keep hold of Pearson in January and broke down what he does for Neil's side.

He explained: "Pearson is very important to our side, probably our most important player.

"He starts off attacks and makes us tick. He also helps break up the play from the deep-lying midfield role, so he is influential in everything we do."

He added: "The club should reject if a bid comes in January.

"If it got to the summer and we were still in the Championship, I think it would be only fair to let him go as he deserves a chance in the Premier League but hopefully he will be playing in top-flight football with Preston."

Preston face Huddersfield Town at Deepdale on Saturday, knowing that a win could see them go top of the Championship.
