Huddersfield Town caretaker boss Mark Hudson has heaped praise on striker Frazier Campbell for his work ethic, insisting that he is good enough to force his way into the side.

The 31-year-old striker joined the Terriers on a free transfer earlier this month and made his debut for his hometown club as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City on Wednesday night.

The centre-forward scored twelve goals in 39 Championship appearances for Hull City last season - his most productive season for over a decade - but he was released by the club earlier this summer.

The striker spent time training with non-league Brighouse Town this summer in an attempt to maintain his fitness and joined the Terriers on a free transfer earlier this month.

Hudson - who is currently in caretaker charge at Huddersfield after the club sacked head coach Jan Siewert last week - has heaped praise on Campbell for his work ethic and has insisted that the striker is good enough to force his way into the side.

Huddersfield have made a poor start to the new Championship season, losing three of their opening four matches and face 15th-placed Reading in their next game at the weekend.

The Verdict

Campbell is a good player and he could turn out to be a decent signing for Huddersfield on a free transfer.

He's got plenty of experience and scored twelve goals for Hull in the Championship last season - his best season for over a decade.

The striker probably isn't gong to start too many games for Huddersfield this season ahead of the likes of Karlan Grant, but he'll be a very useful option for the Hudson or whoever the club's next manager is to have in his squad.

He works very hard on the pitch and will be determined to make an impact for his hometown club. If they can keep him fit, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Campbell score a few goals for Huddersfield in the Championship this season.
