Mile Jedinak is expected to leave Aston Villa in a cut-price deal this summer, as the struggling Sky Bet Championship outfit look to get the Australian off their wage bill.

According to the Mirror’s live transfer blog (13/07, 22:09), Villa are desperately looking to move Jedinak on this summer, with the midfielder close to agreeing a deal with a European club.

Jedinak will move on at a cut-price, however, with Villa looking to get the midfielder, who earns a reported £50k-a-week, off their books.

The 33-year-old joined Villa in the summer of 2016, arriving in a high-profile transfer from Crystal Palace.

During his time at Villa Park Jedinak has made 62 appearances and scored two goals.

The midfielder’s two goals came last season, with Jedinak scoring the winner in the play-off semi-final, as Steve Bruce’s side challenged for promotion in the Championship.

Despite reaching Wembley’s play-off final, Villa didn’t have enough to overcome Fulham, who beat them 1-0 at the national stadium.

Villa are now preparing for a third consecutive year in the Championship, which has left them in a difficult financial situation.

Bruce admitted to Sky Sports earlier in the month that player sales were expected this summer.

The Verdict

The midfielder might've been influential in the last two years, but a £50k-a-week wage is enormous, and it’s little surprise the hear that Villa want to offload him this summer.

The midfielder has plenty of strong attributes, but at 33, it’s hard to say he will be sorely missed next season.

Villa just need to get as much money in for the midfielder as they can.
