Portsmouth FC today announced on the club's official website that the shareholders of the club had voted in favour of selling the club to Michael Eisner and his Tornate group.

Negotiations between Eisner's Tornate group and Portsmouth had been ongoing and the decision about whether to sell the club to the former Disney CEO was proposed as a vote for the shareholders.

The overwhelming majority - equating to 81.4% of the club's equity - voted in favour of the sale of the club to Michael Eisner.

This included significant backing from the principal shareholder the Pompey Supporters' Trust and the club Presidents.

Michael Eisner also took to Twitter to express his glee at the decision.

The majority of Portsmouth fans in reaction to this news expressed excitement and optimism about the future.

They agreed that, in order to grow as a football club, they needed some financial backing.
