Burnley face competition from Premier League rivals Cardiff City as they look to gain the signature of West Brom winger Matty Phillips in the January transfer window, according to a report in The Mirror.

Phillips has been in good form for the Baggies this season netting five goals and completing six assists in his 22 appearances at the Hawthorns.

So would Phillips be a good addition to the Burnley squad?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

Definitely.

Burnley have perhaps lacked a bit of directness in attack and Phillips is a reliable performer in that department.

It would be a big blow to West Brom, however.

George Dagless

Probably, yes.

Burnley need some extra attacking impetus at the moment and Phillips provides that.

He's a direct, attacking player and if he can bring his early-season form then the Clarets would be smiling.

Gary Hutchinson

I like Phillips and he might do a good job at Burnley.

They’re not in the best of places this season, but Sean Dyche is a manager I respect who gets the best out of his players.

If Phillips has to leave West Brom, which he doesn’t, then this would be the better move.

Alfie Burns

Absolutely, I’m a big fan of Phillips and what he brings.

He’s found some good form this year and is beginning to look like a top-flight player again.

In Burnley’s side, he’d thrive.
