Plenty of Birmingham City fans have taken to Twitter to debate whether the club should re-sign Jack Butland in the January transfer window if the opportunity arises.

The goalkeeper, who currently plays for Stoke City, enjoyed a fruitful spell with the Blues before making the switch to the bet365 Stadium.

A product of Birmingham's youth academy, Butland became a mainstay in the club's starting eleven during the 2012/13 campaign following two separate loan stints at Cheltenham Town.

Excellent during the first-half of the season for the Blues, the shot-stopper attracted interest from Stoke in the January transfer window who eventually signed him for a reported fee of £4m (via The Guardian).

As part of the deal, Butland was loaned back to Birmingham for the remainder of the year.

By continuing to deliver the goods for the Blues, the 26-year-old helped the club secure a 12th place finish in the Championship standings in 2013.

Since his move to Stoke, Butland has experienced mixed fortunes in recent years.

Whilst he was arguably the club's star performer last season in the second-tier, the England international has since lost his place in the Potters' starting eleven to Adam Federici due to a drop-off in form.

After Blues HQ asked their followers whether they would sign Butland in January if they had the chance to, plenty of Birmingham fans offered their thoughts on the matter on Twitter.
