Aston Villa missed out on automatic promotion this season but will be hoping to finish the job in the playoffs and return to the Premier League after two seasons in the wilderness.

The Villans rounded off their home campaign yesterday with a 1-1 draw against Derby, a team they could well meet once again in the end of season shootout if the Rams can secure sixth spot next weekend.

Despite missing out on the top two, one thing which has been a constant this season is the loyal support the Villa fans have delivered at home, and this was highlighted yesterday with another impressive crowd of 41,745 people packed inside Villa Park.

Indeed, this figure saw them become the most watched team of the season at home accumulatively, with Villa's official Twitter account display the impressive overall figure of 738,219 for the season.

Stats like this only demonstrate further what a tragedy it is that Villa are plying their trade in the second tier of English football, and many will hope to see the Villans return to the top flight with a playoff win over the coming weeks.

Villa fans, what do you make of this stat? Impressed? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
