Lukasz Jutkiewicz became only the second Birmingham City player of the 21st century to reach ten league goals in November of a season, Goodbrand Stats have revealed.

Marlon King is the only other Blues player to have done so since the turn of the century, hitting the target in the 2013/14 season.

Jutkiewicz scored the opener in the Second City derby against Aston Villa on Sunday to edge him on to ten goals, although the club went on to lose the match 4-2.

The 29-year-old moved to St. Andrew's during the 2016/17 campaign and has gone on to score 28 goals in almost 100 appearances for the club, but this is by far his most productive campaign so far.

Birmingham have been in decent form so far this season and currently sit in 12th place on 24 points.

With the Championship as tight as it has ever been, however, Garry Monk's side remain both seven points from the play-offs and seven points from relegation.

They will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Wednesday night when they travel to strugglers Millwall.

The Verdict

Jutkiewicz has been outstanding this season and is a really important player to the Blues.

It could be a case that he simply had not peaked until recently and could still improve over the next few seasons as well.

The Blues would undoubtedly be closer to the relegation zone than the play-off places without him.
