Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack has admitted he hopes to follow in the footsteps of Derby County loanee Mason Mount.

The Chelsea midfielder, who has been superb for the Rams since arriving on a loan deal in the summer, got his reward for his fine displays by being called up to the England squad for the last two internationals, although he did not feature for Gareth Southgate's men.

However, it has not gone unnoticed from Dack, who told the Sun in a lengthy interview that he wants to play for England himself and sees Mount as an inspiration.

I’d love to play for my country one day, it’s a goal I want to achieve. It's nice to be talked about in that way, it would be a dream. Southgate has said he will look below the Premier League, so I have to keep my head down and keep doing the business."

“Mount has been involved in all the England age groups, I think the manager knows him and is one for the future and they are looking to build him in now. It’s not something I’m bitter about, it’s goal of mine to play for my country and one that will hopefully come if I keep playing the way I am."

Dack has been in fine form for Rovers once more after driving them to promotion last term, and he will no doubt be hoping his performances catch the eye.

Indeed Dack has already caught the eye of West Brom, while Spurs are also reportedly taking an interest in his services.

The Verdict

I think it's a long shot for Dack to expect an England call while being at Ewood Park.

It's clear that Mount is well liked and already well known by Gareth Southgate and his coaching team, and it could well be a one off. If Dack does harbour aspirations of an England spot, then a move to the top flight or a club capable of being promoted needs to be his next move.
