West Bromwich Albion found life back in the Championship to be difficult after a home defeat to Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the season.

The Trotters came away with all three points after a late Yanic Wildschut goal secured the points for the travelling side.

Josh Magennis opened the scoring after 18 minutes with Leicester loanee Harvey Barnes grabbing a stunning equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

The 20-year-old played a one-two before receiving the ball on the corner of the penalty area before taking a touch and curling his shot right into the top left-right corner of the goal, beating Bolton keeper Ben Alnwick all ends up.

Barnes managed five shots during his 76 minutes on the pitch and was able to pick out one key pass during the afternoon.

He made 25 passes and was a problem throughout for the Bolton defence.

We at FLW discuss how he performed in the defeat at The Hawthorns on the opening day of the season....

Alfie Burns

He scored a great goal, but Moore is going to need a lot more over the course of the season.

Barnes is raw and a talent, but consistency is going to be what he is judged on.

It was a good start to the season, but we need to be seeing it week in, week out.

Jay Williams

Although West Brom did not have the perfect start to life in the Championship, Barnes certainly did.

He showed Baggies fans what they might expect from him this season with a superb individual goal.

The winger's turn of pace saw him beat his marker with ease and the left-footed curling effort from range could not have been struck any better.

George Dagless

Impressive.

We know Barnes can perform at this level and I'd expect plenty more where that came from this season.

A shrewd deal for West Brom by the looks of things.

Gary Hutchinson

How's that as an introduction to your new club?

His goal was arguably one of the weekend's best strikes, and that is saying something after a phenomenal start to the new season.

He might not have been on the winning side, but he's shown what he's capable of nice and early.

I can't wait to see more.

Louie Chandler

A shining light in an otherwise poor performance from the Baggies.

Barnes showed what he has to offer down the wing and will ease Moore's concerns about his lack of attacking options.

Oh and his goal. Absolutely gorgeous.
