West Bromwich Albion are interested in making Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder their new manager, according to Sky Sports News' reporter Rob Dorsett.

Dorsett delivered the news update on Twitter, claiming that Wilder has become increasingly frustrated by his limited transfer budget and political rows at the club behind the scenes.

West Brom are still looking for permanent manager, after head coach Darren Moore was sacked in March, with the team nine points outside the automatic promotion places in the Championship.

James Shan took caretaker charge of the team until the end of the season and was able to help them cement their position in top six, before they lost on penalties to Aston Villa in the play-off semi-finals.

Wilder was able to guide Sheffield United to automatic promotion from the Championship last season, just two seasons after helping the Blades win the League One title.

The Verdict

Wilder has been able to achieve success at Sheffield United over the past few seasons on a relatively limited budget and he would have a lot more money to spend at West Brom.

He knows what it takes to win promotion to the top flight and could be a great appointment for the Baggies, although it would be a major blow for Sheffield United to lose him.
