Aston Villa will still be without James Chester and Alan Hutton this weekend, although Dean Smith will be able to call on Anwar El Ghazi despite his recent knock.

Smith’s side welcome Middlesbrough to Villa Park tomorrow and are looking to extend an excellent run of form that has sparked their play-off hopes back into life.

And, the club’s official Twitter account has confirmed that El Ghazi will be available to Smith this weekend, whilst Axel Tuanzebe and Henri Lansbury are also back in training.

However, there was confirmation that defensive duo, Chester and Hutton, would be unavailable.

Currently, Villa are on a four-match unbeaten run in the Championship, with wins coming in their last three.

Those triumphs have come over Derby County, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest, with Middlesbrough now another play-off rival Smith’s side can look to make ground on this weekend.

Tony Pulis’ side head to Villa Park on the back of successive home losses, with Brentford and Preston both picking up maximum points at the Riverside Stadium.

The Verdict

Obviously this is mixed news for Villa, with Chester’s absence something of a significant blow for Smith.

However, they’ve been coping without him for a long time now and Tuanzebe’s return to training will provide the manager with another option.

Smith’s side are flying at the minute, with these injuries beginning to ease off now at a crucial stage.
