Curtis Davies has revealed that he is looking forward to working with new boss Frank Lampard after the Chelsea legend was named as the Rams' manager.

It's the 39-year old's first job in management and fans will be intrigued to see how he gets on. The former midfielder has completed his coaching badges and has worked under some of the biggest coaches in world football.

And, Davies told the club's official site he is very excited about working with the new man.

"It’s going to be Frank’s first job managing football but he brings a winning mentality from his playing days. It’s going to be exciting times and I’m looking forward to getting going and seeing what the manager’s plans are."

Since retiring from football in 2016, Lampard has moved into the media and the former Aston Villa defender thinks that will mean he is well prepared for his new role.

"The fact that he is fresh from his playing career means he is still in touch with the modern game and his punditry stuff means he has been watching a lot of games and people play."

The Verdict

Lampard's appointment will have gone down very well with the players because he is a Premier League legend and will be respected and admired by the group.

Of course, that won't mean much when it comes to management but it will ensure he gets the respect of the dressing room straight away.

Davies' words prove that and it's exciting times for the club.
