‘Immense’, ‘Will have a great career’ – Plenty of Charlton fans excited by ‘masterclass’ from 20-year-old

Charlton Athletic beat Leyton Orient 3-1 in the EFL Trophy last night and many Addicks fans have heaped praise on Albie Morgan after his performance.

Wassim Aouachria’s first goal for Charlton gave them the lead early on and then Marcus Maddison showed his quality, grabbing an assist and a goal to ensure it was a successful night for the south London club.

Maddison may have taken the headlines but the performance of Morgan was arguably equally as impressive.

The 20-year-old started as part of a midfield three for Charlton and his influence was telling throughout the game.

Morgan drilled a low cross to Aouachria to give Lee Bowyer’s men the opener before winning back possession and feeding Maddison for the Addicks’ third.

In a display that will surely please his manager, the Charlton academy graduate also won 10 ground duels, made eight tackles, three clearances, and an interception (Sofascore).

Morgan penned a contract extension earlier this year, keeping him at the Valley until 2023, but has been in and out of the side this term with most of his opportunities coming in cup competitions.
