Sunderland beat Tranmere Rovers 1-0 to move back into the top six and many fans of the North East club have been praising the performance of debutant Bailey Wright.

The Black Cats traveled to Prenton Park last night in a tremendous vein of form–having picked up fourt wins from their last six games.

Charlie Wyke's headed goal on the hour mark proved decisive for Phil Parkinson's men and helped them climb to fifth in League One.

It was a scrappy game and by no means their most impressive performance in recent weeks but they fought hard to ensure they head back to the North East will all three points.

Wright, who was making his debut for the club since joining on loan from Championship side Bristol City earlier this month, was impressive for the Black Cats.

The central defender made three clearances, one tackle, one interception, and blocked two shots, in addition to winning four of his eight duels (Sofascore).

The Australia international had fallen out of favour at Ashton Gate but appears to be well on his way to becoming a popular figure for Sunderland.
