Preston North End progressed to the third round of the Carabao Cup with a 4-2 victory over Morecambe last night.

A brace from Emil Riis Jakobsen fired the visitors into a two-goal lead with half an hour played, before Anthony O’Connor halved the deficit on the stroke of half time.

Cole Stockton continued his excellent start to the campaign, scoring his fifth goal of the season to level the scoring on the hour-mark, but parity was not restored for long, with Ryan Ledson’s stunning strike gave Preston the lead just three minutes later.

Sepp van den Berg ensured a place in the next round for the Lilywhites, with his 79th minute strike proving to be the last goal of an exciting contest.
