Transfer speculation continues to grow surrounding Tom Cairney, after images of the midfielder attending a West Ham United fixture emerged on social media yesterday afternoon.

During the January transfer window Cairney reportedly wanted a move to the London Stadium to link up with West Ham (Sky Sports), but was denied a move by Fulham, who continue to go in search of promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.

However, speculation once again grew yesterday after a West Ham fan spotted Cairney in attendance at Stamford Bridge, as the Hammers took on Chelsea in the Premier League.

@JoshWHUnited shared the image of Cairney sitting over the should of David Moyes, as West Ham played out a 1-1 draw with last season’s Premier League champions.

Cairney has once again been influential in the Championship for Fulham this season, with the midfielder captaining Slavisa Jokanovic’s side into promotion contention.

The 27-year-old, featuring in a central midfield role, has grabbed four goals and a further five assists this season, putting Fulham into the top-six.

The Cottagers currently sit third in the Championship table, with Jokanovic’s side now trailing Cardiff City in second by just two points.

The Verdict

Fulham’s supporters will be worried by images emerging of Cairney at West Ham’s fixture yesterday, particularly after previous reports that indicated that the midfielder wanted a move to the London Stadium.

Cairney has been influential for Fulham in recent years and has once again put the club in promotion contention this season.

Whether these images mean anything in the grand scheme of things remains to be seen, but Fulham’s supporters will be a little unsettled by seeing their captain behind the West Ham dugout.
