Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has taken to Instagram to post a throwback image of himself playing for Premier League side Everton 10 years ago.

Forshaw has been the missing man at Elland Road for large parts of the season, having not featured for the Whites since September due to an injury.

The midfielder began the season as an integral part of Marcelo Bielsa's side, starting the first six Championship games, but picked up a hip injury and has barely featured since.

Leeds have pushed on in his absence and now find themselves in a commanding position–second in the table and with a 10-point cushion gap above the sides below them.

Forshaw, who has reportedly been training on his own as he looks to shake the niggle, will undoubtedly be determined to return to the fray in the second half of the season and help the Whites finally end their 15-year absence from the English top flight.

Promotion with Leeds would not be the 28-year-old's first experience of the Premier League, however, as he has played in the division for Middlesbrough and, at the start of the decade, Everton.

Forshaw took to Instagram yesterday to throwback to his time with the Premier League stalwarts, posting an image of him in action in the Europa League for the Toffees with the caption: "10 years ago today".

Leeds fans will no doubt be hoping to see Forshaw back on the pitch soon.

The Verdict

Forshaw had emerged as a key player in the early part of the season and his absence has been notable over the last few months, with Stuart Dallas often being shifted into central midfield.

It has allowed for Bielsa to be more aggressive and shift to a formation that allows him to get more attacking players on the pitch but as we saw against Cardiff City that sometimes means less control.

You'd imagine the 28-year-old will come back into the starting XI when he returns to fitness to give the Whites that extra grip on games.
