Leeds Unitedâs official Twitter account have shared pictures of Caleb Ekuban back training with the first-team at Thorp Arch, as the striker continues his path the recovery following a long-term injury.
Ekuban picked up an unfortunate foot injury on his first Sky Bet Championship start for Leeds against Sunderland back in August, which has ruled the striker out of action for almost two months, depriving Thomas Christiansen of a striking option.
However, the 23-year-old is edging closer to a return to full fitness, and has linked back up with Leedsâ first-team training over the last week, with @LUFC sharing pictures of the striker clearly delighted to be back amongst the rest of his teammates.
Ekuban has made just two appearances for Leeds across all competitions, but has added a goal and an assist during that time. Christiansen isnât likely to risk the striker in this eveningâs clash with Brentford at Griffin Park, where the Whites are looking to return to winning ways after back-to-back Championship defeats at Elland Road.
Those defeats have seen Leeds fall out of the Championshipâs top-six, and they entered this weekendâs round of fixtures sitting seventh.
The Verdict Â
Leedsâ supporters will be delighted to see Ekuban back in training, as Christiansenâs side have been missing somebody who can compete with Pierre-Michel Lasogga for the striking role at Elland Road.
Ekuban is still an unknown quantity in the Championship, but his solo appearance against Sunderland in the league was promising and Leedsâ supporters will want to see what else he can offer.
Christiansen will be expected to call on him following the international break.
