Luke Ayling is stepping up his road to recovery, with pictures emerging of the Leeds United defender taking part in a light gym session yesterday.
Leeds have been without Ayling for the bulk of 2018, after the defender picked up an ankle injury against Nottingham Forest on January 1st.
Since then, Leeds have been forced to confirm that Ayling will be out for the remainder of the Sky Bet Championship season, after the seriousness of his ankle injury was revealed.
Leeds have now taken to their official Twitter account (@LUFC) to share an update of Ayling, with the 26-year-old stepping up his recovery with a gym session.
Prior to his injury, Ayling had been ever-present for Leeds, featuring in 26 Championship fixtures and helping the Whites into serious play-off contention.
However, in his absence, there has been a change of head-coach at Elland Road, with Paul Heckingbottom replacing Thomas Christiansen.
Leeds are also still searching for their first victory of the calendar year, with their last three points coming on Boxing Day.
That miserable run of results has left Leeds in 11th, eight points adrift of the top-six heading into the final 15 fixtures of the 2017/18 campaign.
The Verdict Â
It remains to be seen if Ayling returns from injury ahead of schedule, but these images will please Leedsâ supporters.
Aylingâs absence has hurt Leeds, with the defender consistently impressing at right-back during his time at Elland Road.
There is no doubt that the 26-year-oldâs injury has been one of the key factors behind Leedsâ major slump in form.
