Pablo Hernandez has been a key cog at Leeds United since arriving at the club in 2016 and if the remaining nine games of the 2019/20 season can be concluded, he will be looking to earn one last chance in the Premier League.

Leeds have been battling for promotion in Hernandez’s four seasons at Elland Road and on the back of missing out last year, there’s added motivation for Marcelo Bielsa’s squad this time around.

Currently, Leeds are top of the pile in the Championship but their push for the Premier League has been placed on hold.

Quiz: Have Leeds United done these 15 things in the last 10 years? – Yes or no?

There’s been a positive step this week, however, with Bielsa’s squad back in the building at Thorp Arch and working towards the season’s resume.

@LUFC have moved to share an image of Hernandez back on the training field, poking fun at social distancing guidelines by insisting the 35-year-old has never struggled finding that kind of space before.

Hernandez has struck six goals and registered six assists this season for the Whites, proving to be central to the side’s push for the Premier League.

At 35, Hernandez is in the twilight of his career but signed a new two-year deal at Elland Road earlier in the season.

The Verdict

It’s great to see Hernandez back at Thorp Arch and with a ball at his feet.

The 35-year-old will be key to Leeds pushing on for promotion this season when thing start up again, just as he was pre-postponement in the wins over Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Hull City.

A fan favourite, who deserves promotion.
