Chris Wilder has been pictured delivering a tongue-in-cheek dig at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Sheffield United manager has been pictured at the Premier League Darts in Sheffield last night, holding up a sign saying ‘mind the gap UTB’ - @jmorley9.

Wilder is appearing to take a dig at city rivals, Sheffield Wednesday, who have endured a difficult campaign in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Owls currently sit 17thin the Championship, with Jos Luhukay’s side unable to mount any kind of assault on the play-off places.

Across the city, the Blades have endured a magnificent return to the second tier of English football, with Sheffield United currently sitting ninth and still in play-off contention.

Wilder’s side have 65 points to their name, sitting three points adrift of Millwall, who currently sit sixth and are in control of the race for sixth.

Added to an 18-point gap separating United and Wednesday, Wilder’s side have also picked up better results in the two Steel City derbies.

Back in September, the Blades were 4-2 winners at Hillsborough, before picking up another point in January by holding Wednesday to a goalless draw at Bramall Lane.

The Verdict

Sheffield United supporters will love seeing this from Wilder, who is really rubbing salt in the wound of Wednesday’s supporters after a miserable season.

Of course, it is all in good spirits, but Wednesday’s supporters won’t like to see these images of Wilder.

The Sheffield United boss could be in for a intriguing reception when he next returns to Hillsborough.
