Image: Hull City deliver positive training ground update as the Adkins era begins

Hull City’s official Twitter account have shared pictures of Nigel Adkins’ first training session since his appointment as the club’s head-coach.

Leonid Slutsky lost his job at Hull over the course of the weekend following a string of disappointing results, with the Tigers moving swiftly to appoint Adkins as his replacement at the KCOM Stadium.

The Sky Bet Championship outfit announced the arrival of Adkins this morning, confirming that the 52-year-old and his assistant, Andy Crosby, had agreed 18-month contracts with Hull.

The former Southampton and Scunthorpe manager took charge of his first training session this morning, with Hull’s official media sharing pictures from the session, accompanied by the caption ‘All Together.’

Adkins is preparing his Hull squad for Saturday’s clash with Brentford in the Championship, where the Tigers will be looking to pick up three points to help them move away from relegation trouble.

Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, Slutsky’s final fixture in-charge, left Hull in 20th, sitting just three points above the bottom-three heading into the festive period.

Following this weekend’s clash with Brentford at the KCOM, Hull face difficult away trips to Cardiff City and Leeds United before Christmas.

The Verdict

Hull’s supporters will be pleased to see that the club has acted fast when appointing Slutsky’s successor, with the first-team quick to get to work under their new boss.

The fact that Adkins has been able to walk straight into the job is positive, as he will be able to have two or three training sessions with his new squad ahead of Saturday’s vital clash with Brentford.
