Fan footage following Saturday’s clash between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday has linked Jordan Rhodes with a move to Elland Road, after the striker was spotted talking to Victor Orta.

Sheffield Wednesday left Elland Road on Saturday afternoon having picked up three points thanks to a 2-1 victory, with Rhodes left as an unused substitute by Jos Luhukay.

Following the game, Orta, who is in-charge of Leeds’ recruitment, was spotted speaking to Rhodes, who he previously signed during his time with Middlesbrough.

Supporter Sam Isles (@Isles98) moved to share an image of Rhodes and Orta in deep discussion, with claims that the two had been discussing a summer move to Elland Road.

Rhodes has scored seven Championship goals during his time at Hillsborough, but the 28-year-old’s Football League record prior to that move to South Yorkshire was impressive, with the striker netting regularly for Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers.

A brief spell with Middlesbrough saw Rhodes earn promotion to the Premier League during his time on Teesside.

This morning, the Yorkshire Evening Post have also linked Leeds with a move for Andy Yiadom, who will become a free agent in the summer.

The Verdict

Of course, Orta’s previous relationship with Rhodes at Middlesbrough adds fuel to this particular fire, with the images something that will interest Leeds’ supporters.

Rhodes’ record in the Championship is good, and although he hasn’t impressed in recent years, a signing of his calibre would please Leeds’ supporters.

It could be an interesting transfer saga to watch develop over the summer.
