Cardiff City forward Lee Tomlin has reacted to a post from Peterborough United ace Marcus Maddison on social media.

Maddison has been one of the standout players for Peterborough this season and has played an extremely important role in their promising start to the season in League One, scoring eight goals and providing six assists.

Alongside Maddison, Peterborough strikers Mo Eisa and Ivan Toney have also been two of the standout players in League One this season and have both scored eleven goals in the third tier.

Maddison took to social media recently and posted a photo of the trio on his personal Instagram account, asking his followers whether they are the best front three in the country.

Cardiff forward Tomlin, who played alongside Maddison and Toney while on loan at Peterborough last season, was quick to respond to the post, commenting - '@ivantoney1 sort this guy out with that stupid caption'.

Tomlin has made six Championship appearances for Cardiff this season, scoring one goal. The 30-year-old burst onto the scene at Peterborough almost a decade ago and returned to the Posh on loan last season, where he scored two goals in 21 appearances.

The Verdict

Tomlin spent the second half of last season on loan at Peterborough and he clearly still has a good relationship with both Toney and Maddison. It's good to see this sort of banter between the former teammates.

The trio of Toney, Eisa and Maddison and have been excellent for Peterborough so far this season and have scored 30 of their 36 league goals.

It's fair to say that while they're definitely not the best front three in the country, but they probably are the best front three in League One - they certainly are on current form.

They're so crucial to the attacking football that Peterborough play under Darren Ferguson and are clearly going to have a huge role to play in their promotion push this season.
