Ipswich Town owner Marcus Evans has acted swiftly and sacked manager Paul Hurst following a poor start to the season, that sees the Tractor Boys rooted to the bottom of the Championship with only nine points from a possible 42.

Hurst was appointed back in May following a successful stint as manager of Shrewsbury Town, but with only one win in the league after 14 matches, it was enough to seal his fate with only a quarter of the season gone.

So was sacking Hurst the right decision?

100%.

One win from fourteen league games is completely unacceptable, and despite an impressive win at Swansea, Ipswich haven’t shown signs of progressing under his management.

Gary Hutchinson

No.

Sure they’re bottom with no wins but they should have kept faith, just until the end of November.

His methods clearly worked at Grimsby and Shrewsbury but he’s been dealt with harshly.

It’s a bad day for lower league managers.

Jacob Potter

I'm surprised, it's a very harsh sacking.

Hurst may have only won one game this season with Ipswich but in all honesty, with hardly any transfer budget available to him, and an under-performing squad, what more could he have done?

Ipswich are looking like a lost cause at the moment and I can’t see a new manager having much impact on the current playing squad.

Louie Chandler

He should never have been hired in the first place.

Marcus Evans has completely lost the plot and does not seem to have a clue what he wants for the club, despite constant reference to the 'long-term vision'.

If he hires a manager like Hurst he has to give him time. Sadly, he's hit the panic button.
