Brentford have announced that Chief Executive Mark Devlin is set to leave the club in January.

Devlin has been at the club for seven years, but that spell will come to an end in December and the club have already announced that a search for his successor will begin in earnest.

It is the latest departure in a tough month or two for the Bees, after losing manager Dean Smith and falling away from the Championship promotion race. They'll be hoping to keep things on track even without Devlin, who has become a key figure at Griffin Park.

The news has been met with disappointment on Twitter, with a number of Bees' fans coming forward to share their stories about a man who has overseen a big change in fortunes in West London.

Seven years ago they were a League One side but, in conjunction with other significant people, Devlin has helped turn them into a viable Championship club both on and off the pitch.

It certainly seems as though he'll be missed, with the following messages offering nothing but support and thanks...
