Having shown promise at Bolton Wanderers and once being linked with top PL clubs including Man Utd, 23-year-old Zach Clough is now plying his trade at Rochdale on loan as he looks to kickstart his career.

The attacking midfielder transferred to Nottingham Forest on a four and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee back in 2014, but failed to nail down a regular starting position eventually going back to Bolton on loan.

Now on loan at Rochdale, is it a surprise Clough's career has gone downhill?

We discuss.....

It is somewhat if a conundrum as to why his career has fallen off a cliff.

Football is all about opinions and at this moment in time, everyone that seems to have been involved with the player has had an opinion that would deem him not good enough for their side.

Hopefully, with no pressure at Rochdale, Zach Clough can find his form again and learn to build his career back up and once again try his hand at Championship level.

George Dagless

Yes, i'm really surprised.

He looked set to be one of the Championship's brightest young players at Forest and eventually get a move into the top flight.

Things didn't work out for the Reds, though, so now he is at Rochdale.

Dale are looking to have a solid year, though, so I think he could start building again there.

Gary Hutchnson

I’m surprised he didn’t get a chance at Forest.

At 23 his career has taken a knock, but with regular football he’ll be back on song soon.

He got his first goal for Rochdale this week and there will be more.

The move could be exactly what he needs.
